Materials and Methods:

When Lululemon expanded its original store on the corner of West 4th and Arbutus St., in Vancouver, TDH was asked to re-purpose a Midas Service Centre pylon sign which was initially installed on the property in 1976 as a way to pay homage to the area’s history. The sign was in poor condition and, therefore, required additional structural support and framework, and the main oval shape was re-skinned with sheet metal. The reader board and arrow tip was re-furbished with new framework, plastic, and light-emitting diode (LED) illumination. The sign is secured to two steel posts that are welded to the building’s structural-steel frame.
