Materials and Methods:
This pylon was fabricated out of rolled aluminum sheet clad around a formed aluminum-angle frame and supported with a galvanized steel support structure. The surface was digitally printed on premium laminated vinyl film and wrapped onto the aluminum surface. The topper featured computer numerical control (CNC) routed aluminum faces with light-emitting diode (LED) illuminated 19-mm (0.75-in.) push-through acrylic. The digital display was a high resolution P6 pixel pitch. The structure was topped off with a clear tempered and laminated glass roof attached with S.S. standoffs. The concrete base is shaped to the same profile as the sign and received a vibrated and sandblasted finished for a high quality appearance. The sign was shaped to capture maximum exposure in the adjacent UBC Main Mall.
